Lucille M. Spiegel, (nee, Tilton), age 94, formerly of Hammond, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 19, 2016 in Green Bay, WI. Lucille was born in Lowell, IN on April 7, 1922, the daughter of the late Guy and Ida (Kimmet) Tilton. On December 29, 1945, she married John Spiegel in Lowell. He preceded her in death on October 28, 1997.

She is survived by three sons: Mike (Vicki) Spiegel of New Albany, OH, Larry (Patty) Spiegel of Phoenix, AZ and Tom (Kathy) Spiegel of Green Bay, WI; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Lucy Tilton of Rockville, IN; brother-in-law, Dr. Stuart (Judy) Zimmerman of Katy, TX; many nieces, nephews and best friend, since 1946, Jean Smith.

 Preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Spiegel; son, Joseph; grandson, Kevin and brother, John Tilton.

Lucille was an avid reader and always enjoyed a trip to the bookstore. She was a former member of St. Margaret Mary Church, where she served as Eucharistic Minister; and former member of Immaculate Conception Church, East Chicago, IN. Lucille graduated from Lowell High School in 1940 and attended business college in Kankakee, IL. She enjoyed a career that included employment at St. Margaret Hospital, Indiana Harbor Belt Railway office at the Gibson yards and E. C. Minas Dept. Store.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 26, 2016 with prayers at 10:30 a.m. from Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Ave., Hammond (Hessville) followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Margaret Mary Church, 1445 Hoffman St., Hammond with Father Steve Kosinski, celebrant. Burial will follow at St. John Catholic Cemetery in Hammond, IN. Friends are invited to meet with the family for a time of visitation at the funeral home on Friday morning, August 26th from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. 

Lucille was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister-in-law and dear friend who will be missed by all who knew her. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital would be appreciated.
