Magdalena “Maggie” Villanueva-Wilson

Magdalena Villanueva-Wilson, age 54, of Griffith, passed away peacefully on Wednesday August 31, 2016.

She is survived by her husband of 25 years: Roger Wilson; one son: Christian (Amelia) Wilson; mother: Ernestina (Camarena) Villanueva; her feline friend, Storm; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, in-laws, extended family and friends. Preceded in death by her father Cruz Villanueva.

Maggie was born in East Chicago IN on December 14, 1961. She was a graduate of Bishop Noll High School and Purdue University, she also attended IUN as she earned a masters degree in education. Maggie has invested in the lives of hundreds of children for over 33 years, as a teacher at McKinley elementary school in East Chicago. She is a member, past treasurer, board member and union representative of local ATF 511. Maggie was a proud and faithful fan of the Chicago Cubs and Bears. She was a loving daughter, wife and mother who will be missed by all who knew her.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 9, 2016 DIRECTLY at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 3510 Deodar Street, East Chicago, IN with viewing from 9:30 .am. until the Mass at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at St. John-St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Hammond, IN.                                                                         Friends are invited to meet with the family for a time of visitation at Bocken Funeral Home 7042 Kennedy Ave. Hammond, (Hessville) on Thursday, September 8th from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m.
