Mary Lou Austin, age 79, of Hammond, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 25, 2017. She is survived by three childern: Wanda (Timothy) Ledbetter, Roger (Virginia “Gini”) Story, Michael (Doretta) Austin; six grandchildren: Tara (Carey) Gorski, Brittany Austin, Roger Story Jr., Mikey Austin, Johnathon and Gregory Baker; four great grandchildren; two sisters: Marie Basso and Jean Troutwine; many nieces, nephews, and friends.                                                                                                                                                                                                    Preceded in death by her beloved husband of 52 years, David Austin; parents: Freeman and Elizabeth Fisher; three siblings: Bobbie Sue Shelton, Buddy Fisher and J.W. Fisher.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                Friends are invited to meet with the family for visitation on Wednesday, March 29th, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 12:00 p.m. at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville). Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Scott Ferry, officiating at Bocken Funeral Home 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville). Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Hammond.

Mary Lou was a long time resident of North Hammond. She was an avid bowler for many years. Mary Lou was retired from the House of Stewart in Hammond where she was a server and cook.  Mary Lou’s grandchildren and great grandchildren were the love of her life. Mary Lou was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend who will be dearly missed.
