Rose Kocur, age 91, of Hammond passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, May 19, 2016.
She is survived by her 6 children: Carol (Michael) Mical, John (late Ruth) Kocur, Kathleen (Paul) Drapac, Thomas (Maryann) Kocur, Robert (Kim) Kocur and Janet (Matthew) Fletcher; 17 grandchildren: late Eric, Jennifer, Christine (Dan), Mandy (Tim), Paul, Angie (D.J.) Cindy (Cole), Patty (Omar), Liz, Missy, Meredith, John Thomas, Doug, Sam, Natalie Rose, Chris and Mary; 16 great grandchildren: Autumn, Brittany, Alice, Dylan, Logan, Owen, Jay, Matt, Johnny, Payton, Alex, Izzy, Flyn, Abigail, Katie and Jackie; 3 brothers; John (Maryann), Steve and Robert (late Cookie) Szakacs; numerous nieces, nephews and good friends.
Preceded in death by her loving husband, of 38 years, John; parents, Joseph and Rose Szakacs; brothers: Joseph and Andrew Szakacs; sisters: Margaret Mytych, Helen and Ann Szakacs.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at 12:00 noon., with a time of visitation from 11:30 a.m. until the Mass at 12:00 p.m. directly at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 7132 Arizona Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) with Father Charles Mosely celebrant. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery in Hammond. Friends are invited to meet with the family for a time of visitation on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Rose was a lifetime resident of Hessville. For over 60 years she was a faithful parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. She was a member of the Rosary Society whose members will recite the Rosary on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. and member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society.
Rose always had a smile on her face and a strong faith in God. She touched so many lives and was a true inspiration to all who knew and loved her. She is loved to the moon and back. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Society of St. Vincent DePaul.
