Stanley J. Burczyk, age 67, of Hammond, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, August 24, 2017.

Survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Mary Beth Burczyk, nee, Suwalski; five children: Justin Burczyk, Chrissy (Kevin) Gora, Terry (Cindy) Burczyk, Kelly Burczyk, Ryan Burczyk; five grandchildren: Kiersten and KJ Gora, Sascha, Isabel and Victoria Burczyk; Two sisters: Marie Collins and Dolorene (Gene) Sackman;

Numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Angela Burczyk; one daughter, Patricia Burczyk; brother, Paul Burczyk; sister, Virginia Burczyk.

 

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with viewing prior to the mass from 10:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. directly at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 7137 Arizona Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) with Rev. Charles Mosley celebrant. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Tuesday, August 29th at Bocken Funeral Home. 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Entombment will be private at Holy Cross Cemetery, Calumet City, IL.

Stanley was a lifetime resident of Hammond. He was a graduate of Bishop Noll High School, class of 1968. He attended Calumet College of St. Joseph and Northwestern University. For over 39 years Stanley worked as a federal protection officer and was a chief inspector for the Department of Homeland Security. He was a charter member of the Federal Lawmen #165, and has been their president since 1984. He organized the security for the Atlanta Olympics in 1996 and the Salt Lake City Olympics in 2002. He was a longtime faithful member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. Stanley enjoyed fishing, trips to St. Simons Island in Georgia and just sitting in the sun.

He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle who will be greatly missed. Memorials to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org would be appreciated.
