Frances Mierzwa Pierson (Nee Koziol), age 88 of Hammond, passed away peacefully on Friday July 9, 2010 at her residence. She is survived by one son Dennis (Marcy) Mierzwa of Walnut Creek, CA and one daughter Patricia (George) Earl of St. John, IN. Six Grandchildren: Thomas (Robin) Earl of Hammond, IN, Robert (Cathy) Earl of Indianapolis, IN, Michael Mierzwa of Davis, CA, Kristen Mierzwa of San Francisco, CA, Rebecca (Hal) Williams of Brownsburg, IN and Daniel (Staci) Mierzwa of Plumas Lake, CA. Seven Great Grandchildren Cody, Hannah, Mackenzie, Sydney, Nolan, Josie and Mason. Preceded in death by her husbands Leo Mierzwa and Raymond Pierson. parents: Frank and Tillie Koziol(Nee Pulak), two sisters Mary (Stanley) Hopek and Ann (John) Szymoniak and Brother Joseph (Helen) Koziol. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at 9:30 am from Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue , Hammond (Hessville) to St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church for mass of Christian Burial at 10 am with Father Larry Kew celebrant. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Calumet City, IL. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Monday, July 12th at Bocken Funeral Home from 2- 8 PM. Frances was a lifetime resident of Hammond. She was a faithful parishoner of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church where she had been a member of the Rosary Society. Frances was a member of the wives club of Knights of Columbus, St. Alfred Council #4933 . Frances greatly enjoyed watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren play baseball and softball.
