James A. Walston, age 71, of Hammond, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, October 29, 2019.
He is survived by two daughters, Gena (Robbie) Keaton and Dana (David) Skaritka; five grandchildren: Joseph Skaritka, Chaya Keaton, Julia Skaritka, James Skraitka, Cameron Keaton; three sisters: Darelene (Jim) Wilson, Goldie (Orval) Kopeshke, Madeleine (Richard) Hucksold: many nieces nephews and dear friends.
Preceded in death by his parents, Lucia and Joseph Pittacora; two sisters: Glennis (Jim) Mitidieri and Pauline (Terry) Poe.
Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at 6 p.m. at Bocken Funeral Home with Father Charles Mosley, officiating. Private cremation will follow. Friends are invited to meet with the family for a time of visitation and celebration of Jims life on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Bocken Funeral Home 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville).
Jim was a native of Chicago, IL, and has lived in Hammond since 1973. James was an Army veteran of the Vietnam era. He was retired from U.S Steel after 30 years of service. Jim enjoyed spending his free time fishing; woodworking and spending time with his family and later became an avid Cubs fan. He played guitar, collected die cast cars and could fix just about anything. Jim was a loving father, grandfather, brother and friend.
