John Andrew Hogewoning, age 55, of Hammond, entered into the gates of heaven on Sunday, July 14, 2019.

He is survived by: two sisters: Patricia Hogewoning and Sylvia (Orrin) Langdon; one brother, Vanson (Jen) Van Pelt; niece, Tammy (Todd) Kinney; nephews: Karl (Ralesha) Hogewoning, Dalton and Brian Van Pelt, Daniel (Bethany) Smith; Edward, Vanson Kevin (Asami) Van Pelt, Keith Van Pelt, Joshua and Walter Smith; great nieces and great nephews: Megan (fiancée Will) Kinney, Tyler Kinney, Desiree & Liv Hogewoning, Yuki & Kaito Van Pelt , Amelia & Thaddeus Smith. Preceded in death by his parents, Carl Hogewoning and Patricia Hogewoning Van Pelt; brother Karl Hogewoning and sister Pamela Hogewoning.

 Friends are invited to meet with the family for a memorial visitation on Saturday, July 27, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Ave. Hammond (Hessville). A service to celebrate John’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Shawn Cornett officiating.

John was born and raised in Hammond. He has lived in Hammond/Kentucky/Florida and then back to his hometown Hammond.  John was a people person and made friends where ever he went. He was a Carpenter and loved what he did and always enjoyed helping others. John enjoyed listening to music, driving fast, camping, and last but not least drinkin’ a beer or three! He also loved his dogs. John was a go with the flow type of guy and loved spending time with his family.  He will long be remembered as a loving and generous brother, uncle and friend, always willing to help others.
