Ozilee Pickering, age 91, of Crown Point, formerly of Hammond, entered into the gates of heaven on Wednesday, October 10, 2018.
She is survived by her two children: Michael (Nancy) Sutherland and Diane (Harold) Horton; eight Grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; four sisters: Dean Brooks, Sue (Wayburn) Costellow, Jane (Frank) Skipworth and Barbara Richards; three brothers: C.W. (Wynona) Jones, Wayne (Carolyn) Jones and Fred (Kathy) Jones; numerous nieces, nephews and one special niece, Lana (Ron) Richardson, and many friends.
Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dean Pickering and daughter, Linda Pautler; grandson, James Pautler; brothers, Brank, Clifton and Cletus Jones; and sister, Margaret McIntosh.
Friends are invited to meet with the family for a time of visitation on Monday, October 15, 2018 from 10:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville). A funeral service will be held following the visitation on Monday at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Bill Marshall officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Lane Cemetery, Crown Point.
Lee was born in Greenville, Kentucky before relocating to the Hessville section of Hammond in 1950 where she raised her family. She was a faithful member of Community Baptist Church in St. John, and was a member of the Tops Club in Hammond for 47 years. She loved technology and spending time on her computer. Lee found it very important to eat healthy, it was something she truly loved. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and a dear friend to many.
