Roger Wayne Henson, 68 of Culver passed away on May 24, 2018 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Auburn Henson and Clara Henson, brother Ricky Henson Sr.and brother in law, Russell Foust. Survived by his Children: James (Tara) Henson, Jason Henson, Jacob (Kim) Henson; Grandchildren: Javin, Josiah, Jude and Teegan; Siblings: Sharon Foust, David (Margie) Henson, Judy (Mike) Demas, Nancy (Todd) Sarason, Susan Watkins, Lori (Greg) Demps, Donald Henson, Samantha Hansen; twenty-two nieces and nephews and many cherished friends.
Friends are invited to meet with the family at Bocken Funeral Home 7042 Kennedy Ave. Hammond (Hessville) on Wednesday May 30, 2018 from 2-8pm. Funeral Services will be held at Bocken Funeral Home on Thursday May 31, 2018 at 11am with Pastor Rebecca Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Saint John-Saint Joseph Cemetery in Hammond.
Roger, commonly known as Wayne was born on September 27, 1950 son of the late Auburn and Clara Henson. He completed his schooling at Hammond Tech and served his country in the United States Navy from 1969-1971. Wayne was a second division petty officer, third class on the U.S.S Monticello. He retired from a 33-year long career at General Service Administration.
Wayne was a loving and devoted father, not only to his three sons, but also to his siblings. He valued time spent with his children and grandchildren. Wayne enjoyed the outdoors. He liked to fish and waterski. He also loved watching his favorite sports team, the Chicago Cubs. Wayne is a man who will be remembered by his quick wit and sarcasm but also by his transparency, acceptance and generosity. He was the greatest dad, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend. He respectfully requests six Chicago Bears pallbearers so the Bears can let him down one last time.
