In Loving Memory of Adolfo Salgado
October 6, 1938 – June 12, 2025
Adolfo Salgado, 86, of Crete, Illinois—formerly of South Chicago—entered the presence of the Lord on Thursday, June 12, 2025. A devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, brother, uncle, and loyal friend, Adolfo touched countless lives with his warmth, generosity, wisdom, and boundless love.
Born on October 6, 1938, he graduated from Bowen High School in South Chicago and wasted no time building a life of purpose. He held various sales roles before discovering his calling in the mortgage industry, becoming a loan officer in 1988. His talent for connecting with people led him to open his own company, Approved Financial Mortgage. There, he helped families achieve their dreams of homeownership with care, clarity, and integrity. He dressed to the nines for work each day—polished leather shoes, tailored wool suits, and a matching tie and handkerchief—carrying himself with unmistakable style and grace. He was known for always dressing sharp from head to toe and impressing the world with an effortless style. When he walked into a room, he lit it up with his striking green eyes and warm, welcoming smile. He retired in 2005 after decades of serving his community with heart.
Adolfo's life was deeply rooted in faith, family, and joyful connection. He adored being surrounded by loved ones—telling stories, sharing laughs, encouraging others with confidence, and stirring the pot just enough to keep things lively. He was a straight-to-the-point, no-nonsense man who told it like it was, whether you liked it or not—and that honesty made him both deeply respected and impossible to forget. He was easy to talk to, always seemed to have the right answer, and never hesitated to help. His door—and his heart—was always open.
He found joy in his church community, traveling with his wife, dancing, singing, and immersing himself in the vibrant rhythms of Mexican music. He was a loyal Chicago sports fan, always ready with thoughtful conversation. Whether enjoying a favorite movie or exploring the latest trends online, he approached life with curiosity, elegance, and boundless heart.
Adolfo is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Maria Carolina Salgado (née Gonzalez); his children Adolfo (Veronica) Salgado Jr., John (Juan Enrique) Salgado Carrie), and Anastacia Salgado Morse (Mark); nine grandchildren; and his sisters Mary Ellen (Jim) Johangani and Dolores (late Manuel) Melendrez; along with many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Juan Adolfo and Amelia Salgado, and his sisters Margarita "Margie" Gonzalez and Anita (Epifanio) Saucedo.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 16, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond, IN. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 3200 E. 91st Street, Chicago, IL, with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Evergreen Park, IL.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to assist the family with funeral expenses, honoring Adolfo's memory by helping to carry him home with love. Contributions may be directed to his daughter, Anastacia "Stacy" Salgado Morse.
His presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love, laughter, and integrity will live on in every life he touched.
