Armando Davila Sanchez, age 84, of Hammond, entered into the gates of Heaven on Thursday, September 3, 2015, while surrounded by his loving family.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Maria Olga Sanchez (Nee Lopez); 7 Children: Odessa (George) Garcia, Armando (Lupe) Sanchez Jr., Pete (Juanita) Sanchez, Sandra (Jaime) Jimenez, Thelma Lopez, Nora (Johnny) Best and Art Sanchez; 15 Grandchildren, 12 Great Grandchildren, 2 Great-Great Grandchildren, 1 brother, Arturo (Norma) Sanchez, many nieces, nephews, great nieces, nepews and friends. Preceded in death by his parents, Pedro and Guadalupe Sanchez, 1 son Jose Orlando "Landy" Sanchez, 4 siblings: Jose, Pedro, Josefina and Cruz.
Armando was born on September 23, 1930 in Cotulla, Texas and has lived in the Hammond area for over 60 years. He was retired from American Brick Company in Munster, and Ambrose Landscaping Company in Lansing. Armando was a loving and devoted husband who simply adored his wife, a devoted father, grandfather, great and great-great grandfather, brother and friend, who will be missed by all who knew him. He enjoyed spending time with his family, being a grandpa, watching baseball and football. He cheered on the White Sox and was a huge Dallas Cowboys fan but most importantly he loved the Lord. He leaves a legacy of children and grand children serving in ministries throughout the region and his contagious smile and laugh will never be forgotten.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday morning from 9:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at the church. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday September 9, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. DIRECTLY at Cline Avenue Fellowship Church 8600 Cline Avenue, Highland, IN 46322 with Pastors Armando Sanchez Jr. and Pete Sanchez officiating.
