Barbara J. Johnson, age 79 of Hammond passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, October 23, 2010.
She is survived by her Daughter: Deborah J. Johnson of Hammond and son: William "Rick"(Theresa) Johnson Jr. of Valparaiso.
Two Granddaughters: Jessica L. Johnson and Melissa M. (Justin) Thompson.
Brother Herman (Betty) Hays, numerous nieces and nephews. She also leaves her beloved Chihuahua Sassy and many friends.
Preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, William R. Johnson, parents Vallie and Evalee Hays, Brother Donald Hays and sister Maxine Jones.
Funeral Services will be held on her birthday Thursday, October 28, 2010 at 10am from the Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue , Hammond (Hessville)
with Pastor Bufferd Wireman officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Schererville. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Wednesday from 2-8pm at Bocken Funeral Home.
Barb has been a resident of Hammond since the early 1950's when she moved here from Jasonville. She attended both Christian Faith and Calvary Assembly Churches.
Barb was a loving mother and devoted grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her Granddaughters putting together puzzles or creating ceramic arts.
