Barbara Slade, age 73, of Hammond entered eternal life on Thursday, September 22, 2022.

She is survived by her son, William Davidson; daughter, Mary Slade; grandchildren: Tristen and Amber Davidson;  Ronny Blagg; greatgrandchildren: Donald Emery Mansell, Scarlett Slade; numerous nieces and nephews including her special niece Amanda Ewing; siblings: Larry (Loraine) Steele, Judy Bradshaw, Steve (Carole) Steele, Linda (Jeff) Ewing.

Preceded in death by her husband George T. Slade III; parents, Vertal Emery Jr. and Mary Louise Steele, brother Jack Steele, brother in-law, Donald Frank Bradshaw.

Friends are invited to join the family for visitation on Thursday, September 29, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond IN 46323. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor William Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Hammond.

Barbara was a lifetime resident of Hammond, graduate of Morton High School class of 1967. She was a member of Sigma Beta Delta Theta. Barbara was a member of Griffith First United Methodist Church where she was known as the "Cupcake Queen".  She retired from Miner Electronics in 2003. Barbara was a published writer and an artist who painted pictures, ceramics and various crafts. The love of her life was spending time with her grandchildren and family. In lieu of flowers memorials to the family would be appreciated.
