Bernice Ruth Hurd, age 60, of Hessville, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 9, 2015 at her residence.

She is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Tim Hurd; daughter, Penny (Jon) Zubrenic; son, Nickey Hurd; 5 grandchildern: Alicia, Justin, Crystal and twins Jina and Johnny; great granddaughter, Kinleigh; 2 sisters: Judy Jurek and Zadie Sanchez; brother, Steven (Sherri) Shelton; several nieces, nephews and many dear friends.

Preceded in death by her parents, Archie and Alice Shelton; brother Archie Shelton and sister Lilly Mae Gleim.

Friends are invited to meet with the family for visitation on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) from 2 pm til 8 pm. A graveside committal service will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 directly at Greenwood Cemetery in Michigan City, IN.

Punkie was a lifetime resident of Hammond and a 1973 graduate of Hammond Tech. She enjoyed being a homemaker, doing crafts, crocheting and was an avid bingo player. Punkie was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend who will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her.
