Betty J. Grubesic, age 83, of Hammond, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 29, 2017.
Betty is survived by her five children: Donna Pattri, Marianne (John) Schriver, David Grubesic, Joseph Grubesic and Carolyn (Brian) Brogdon; seven grandchildren: Heather, Samantha, David, Matthew, Kaitlin, Nicholas and Brandon; five great grandchildren: three great great grandchildren; Lucy the cat and many dear friends.
Preceded in death by her beloved husband of 40 years, Joseph Grubesic in 1995; parents, Stephan and Mary Wolfe; two brothers, Stephan and William; and special friend Larry Williams.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at 10:00 a.m., with a time of visitation from 9:30 a.m. until the Mass at 10:00 a.m. directly at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 6605 Kentucky Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) with Father Richard Orlinski, celebrant. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery in Hammond. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond, (Hessville) from 3-7 p.m.
Betty was born in East Chicago, IN and a graduate of Washington High School. She has been a resident of Hessville for the past 62 years. Betty was a faithful member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church where she served in the St. Vincent de Paul food pantry. Betty had a love for gardening, was an avid Cubs fan and was a friend to the stray cats. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great and great great grandmother who touched many lives and was a true inspiration to all who knew and loved her.
