Bruce Gale Vandergriff, age 52, of Crown Point, entered into eternal life on Saturday, December 6, 2014.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 32 years,
Sandi (nee, Cissna) Vandergriff;
5 children: Jonathan (Sara) Vandergriff,
Ryan (Julie) Vandergriff,
Darrin, Stacy and Justin Vandergriff;
grandchildren: Hailey, Benjamin, Evan, Logan and Aiden (a sixth grandchild will be born in April);
Parents, Hughie and Rinda Vandergriff;
4 sisters: Beverly (Bruce) Craft, Barbara Troy, Becky (David) Zdybel, Brenda Figelski;
one brother, Barry Vandergriff;
Many nieces, nephews and good friends.
Preceded to heaven by three babies and parents-in-law, Herbert (Patricia) Cissna.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. directly at Bethany Baptist Church, 3532 S. Hoyne, Chicago, IL 60608, with Pastor's Jon Cuozzo and Darrell Daulton officiating. Burial will follow at Historic Maplewood Cemetery in Crown Point. Friends are invited to meet with the family for a time of visitation on Wednesday, December 10th from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville). There will be a viewing on Thursday morning at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the service at 10:00 a.m.
Bruce was formerly of Worth and Chicago before moving to Crown Point ten years ago. He was a member of South Point Baptist Church and formerly of Bethany Baptist Church, where he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior; and married the love of his life. Bruce was a truck driver for Falcon Transportation and enjoyed driving and spending time in Missouri. He was a collector of Hot Wheels and enjoyed antique vehicles, CB radios and photography. He dearly loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren. Bruce was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend who will be dearly missed. Memorials may be made to the family.
