Carmen Diaz, age 79, of Hammond, passed away peacefully on Saturday November 19, 2016.

She is survived by her five children: Jesus (Tina), Juan (Linnea), Arturo (Guadalupe) Diaz, Bertha (Ladislao) Juarez, Adriana (David) Aldaz; fourteen grandchildren: Margaret, Ramon, Jessica, Juan, Amanda, Marcos, Ladislao, Carmen, Alicia, Tory, Frank, Ramon, Amelia, Noemi; three great grandchildren: Mariah, Mateo, Ramon; many brothers, sisters, nephews, nieces, in-laws, extended family and friends. Preceded in death by her husband Ramon Diaz, and parents: Jesus and Guadalupe Pena.

Carmen was born in Zamora, Michoacán, Mexico, in 1937 then moved to East Chicago, in 1977. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and spending time with her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend who will be missed by all who knew her.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 23 2016 DIRECTLY at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 3510 Deodar Street, East Chicago, IN with viewing from 9:30 a.m. until the Mass at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at St. John-St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Hammond, IN.

Friends are invited to meet with the family for a time of visitation at Bocken Funeral Home 7042 Kennedy Ave. Hammond, (Hessville) on Tuesday, November 22nd from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m.
