Charlene West, age 76, of Hammond,  passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 7, 2021.

She is survived by her daughter, Kelly (Dwayne) Johnson; brothers, Richard (Sis) Alley and Robert Alley; close family friends: Betty and James Wheatley and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her beloved husband of 52 years, Carl W. West on October 26, 2020; parents, Gus and Winifred Alley.

A graveside service and burial will take place DIRECTLY at Elmwood Cemetery 1413 – 169th street, Hammond, IN on Thursday, August 12, 2021 at 10:00 a.m.

Charlene was born and raised in Hammond. She was a graduate of Hammond Tech. Charlene enjoyed being a home maker but did return to Purdue college and earned her bachelor's degree to teach. She will  be remembered as the strongest, sweetest woman to ever live. She enjoyed her flowers and gardening. In lieu of flowers memorials to Second Chance 4 pets rescue at www.sc4pets.org.
