Charles R. Strickland, age 86, of Hammond was called into the presence of his Lord on Thursday, February 9, 2017.
His daughter, Deanna Sue Strickland; brother, George Strickland; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of dear friends survive him.

Preceded in death by his loving wife of 48 years, Emma JoAnn Strickland; parents, Walter and Anna Strickland and ten siblings.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at 12 p.m. at Bocken Funeral Home 7042 Kennedy Ave. Hammond (Hessville) with Dan Nichols minister officiating. Friends are invited to meet with the family for a time of visitation on Wednesday, morning from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Hammond.

Charles was born on March 30, 1930 in Crown Point and was a resident of the Hammond area the past 50 years. He was retired as the head electrician at Standard Forging Company. He enjoyed watching T.V. and was a big Chicago Cubs fan. Charles was a proud US Army veteran of the Korean War.  He was a member of the Garfield Masonic Lodge #569 F. &A.M. Hammond, IN whose members will offer a service at the funeral home on Wednesday at 12 p.m. Charles will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and his faithfulness as a loving husband, father and friend.
