Charles Vanover, age 73, of St. John, IN entered into eternal life on Sunday, December 29, 2024.

He is survived by his four children: Dean Vanover, Dianne Hagle, Charles (Alexa) Vanover and Jodie Harkins; brother: William (Anna) Vanover, brother and sister-in-law, Chris and Sherry Proper; sister-in-law, Debbie Brink; 15 Grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; special friend, Marilyn Vanover and his cat, Princess, who was his world.

Preceded in death by his wife: Brenda Vanover; wife: Linda  Vanover; parents: James and Billie Jean Vanover; brother, James R. Vanover; sister: Delphia Bare; father and mother-in-law: Raymond and Barbara Brink; brother-in-law, Keith Brink and niece Sonya Bare.

Charles Vanover was born to James Martin and Billie Jean Vanover in Jenkins, Kentucky at Sam Vanovers Hotel.  He served in the USMC from September 1968 – February 1977 and was granted the Sagamore of Walbash Award by the Governor of Indiana. He served 2 years in Vietnam and traveled the world protecting our country while in the service. He retired as business manager/Secretary Treasurer of Boilermakers Local 374 where he was a member for 46 years and was known as Big Foot; Chuck was also an Orak Shriner, Mason – Dunes Lodge, American Legion Post 366, VFW Post 717 St. John and earned 12 Medals while in USMC.

Chuck loved shooting in tournaments in Southern Indiana and enjoyed his bi-weekly poker games. But his greatest times were on the lake fishing with his brother and great friend, Mark. Chuck spent many of his days with his brother boating on Lake Michigan and in Michigan, Florida, Southern Indiana and Lake Meade.

Cremation service entrusted to Bocken Funeral Home, a celebration of life service will be held at a later date followed by private burial at Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso, IN.
