Clara M. Kozicki , age 94 of Hammond was called home on Friday June 28,2013.
Clara is survived by her children: Delphine Koznicki and Lee Koznicki. Sister Dorothy (Late Thomas) George and brother James (Joan) Cerajewski. Sister in law Betty Cerajewski, brother in law Albert (late Julie) Koznicki. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years Leonard F. Koznicki. Parents John and Elizabeth (Nee Germick) Cerajewski, 2 brothers Edmund )late Toni) and Jack Cerajewski.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 2, 2013 from 2:00-8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 5 p.m. at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, July 3, 2013 DIRECTLY at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 7132 Arizona Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. with Father Charles Mosley celebrant. Burial will follow at St. John-St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Hammond.
Clara was born and raised in Whiting,IN and graduated Whiting High School class of 1937. Clara met the love of her life Leonard while attending a dance at Madura Dance Land in Whiting, they married and made their home in Hessville. Clara was a faithful parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. She was also a member of various Democratic political organizations. She was a member of the 1st Catholic Slovak Ladies Association branch #81, Catholic Pi Epsilon Kappa sorority IOTA and served as a Brownie and Girl Scott Leader. She enjoyed sewing, crafts photography, politics, bowling and watching baseball she was an avid white sox fan. Clara lived her life serving others and was generous with her time and spirit, she was a hard worker have worked at Appollo drugs, Central Photo, Youngstown Sheet and tube, Carson Pirie Scott as switch board operator, OLPH cafeteria, and North Township Trustees office as an investigator for 27 years. Clara was sweet, kind and loving, to her children she was their heart.
