Clarence "Tat" David Wiersbe, age 86 of  Hammond passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, May 16, 2012.
He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Charlotte (nee, Lindbergh);
Brother, Dr. Warren (Betty) Wiersbe of Lincoln, Nebraska;
Nieces and nephews: Corinne (Duane) Fritz,
Dale (Beth) Wiersbe, Dean (Debbie) Wiersbe,
Bret (Lisa) Wiersbe, David (Sue) Wiersbe,
Carolyn (David) Jacobson, Robert (Karen) Wiersbe and
Judith (David) Johnson;
9 great nieces and 9 great nephews;
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Gladys (nee, Forsberg) Wiersbe; brother, Edward Wiersbe and sister, Doris Smith.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, May 21, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) with Rev. Duane Keleman officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Hammond. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Sunday, May 20th from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Bocken Funeral Home.Clarence was a lifetime resident of the Calumet Area and a 1943 graduate of East Chicago Washington High School. He was a Corporal in U.S. Marine Corp. during WWII having served with the 6th Division in the Pacific Theater. During 1943-1945 he was in the battle of Okinawa and also in Guam and China. Clarence or "Tat" as he was affectionately known attended Suburban Bible Church in Highland. He was an industrial engineer and worked for Edward Valve for over 20 years and retired from Lever Bros. after 15 years of service. Tat's favorite pastime was fishing on Lake Gogebic in the upper peninsula of Michigan.
Clarence was a kind and loving husband, brother and uncle and will be dearly missed. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Suburban Bible Church of Highland or Hospice of the Calumet.
