Clifford Lawrence Depew, age 74, of Munster, peacefully entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on Monday, August 24, 2026.

Clifford will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. He leaves behind his four children: Tobias Sequoyah (Arlana) Depew, Cassandra “Sandy” Eve (Christopher) Tyssen, Adam Corvus Depew and Ryan Gabriel Depew. He is also survived by the mother of his four children, Lucille Schuster (nee Ando), who remains an important part of the family and the story they shared together; his beloved grandchildren: Hannah Michelle Tyssen, Emily Ann Tyssen, Mackenzie Mae Tyssen and Kenzington Josephine Depew, who will carry his memory and the stories of his life with them for years to come; 1 sister, Jennifer Mish; several nieces, nephews and many friends.

Cliff was preceded in death by his parents: Lawrence Olan, and Vera Louise Depew.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 28, 2026, from 3 p.m. – 7 p.m. at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond IN 46323. Cremation will follow and a graveside burial with military honors will take place at Elmwood Cemetery, 1413-169th Street, Hammond, 46324 on Monday September 14, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.

Clifford was a lifelong resident of the Region; he was a 1970 graduate of Donald E. Gavit High School. Clifford became a machinist and in 1982 participated in a missionary trip to Honduras. In 1986 he enlisted in the U.S. Army and worked as a machinist and underwent officer training school, he was honorably discharged in 1991. He returned to work at Viking Engineering and attended Indiana University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing. Clifford then worked for 20 years in the same day surgery department as a recovery nurse at St. Catherines Hospital until retiring in 2021. He was an avid collector and talented restorer of WWII military weapons, with a motto of “if you touch something make it better”. He enjoyed playing billiards and was looking forward to the Bears coming to Hammond.

Clifford’s greatest legacy lives on through the family he leaves behind. The love shared between a parent, child, and grandparent creates memories that endure long after a loved one is gone. His family will treasure the moments they shared with him and keep his memory alive in the generations that follow. Though his passing leaves an immeasurable void, Clifford’s life will continue to be remembered through the people he loved and the family he helped create. May the memories of his life bring comfort and strength to those who mourn his loss. May Clifford Lawrence Depew rest in eternal peace. May his memory forever remain a blessing to his children, their spouses, grandchildren, family, and friends.
