Colleen "Connie" Ann Snyder

(nee, Starks)

Hammond

Colleen Ann Snyder (nee Starks), affectionately known as "Connie," age 84, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on March 22, 2016.  Connie was the beloved minister's wife at the First Christian Church of Hessville for 43 years.  Her loving husband of 63 years, Pastor John Snyder, passed away on August 2, 2013.

Connie was the proud mother of four children: Randy (Annie) Snyder, Sandy Batchelar, James (Robin) Snyder and Cathy (Felix) Weber.  She adored her seven wonderful grandchildren:  Elizabeth (Colby) Holland, Jonathan and Ben Snyder, Brandon Batchelar, Justin Snyder, Jessica (Chris) Ackerman and Rachel Snyder.  Connie was delighted with 7 great-grandchildren:  Liana, Brayden, Gabriel and Kylie Ackerman and Charlie, Claire and Anna Holland.  She has numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins and a host of friends.  Connie was preceded in death by her loving parents, Charles and Vivian Starks, son in-law, Eugene Batchelar, brother, Edgar Starks and sisters, Bonnie Bolinger and Carolyn Love.

Friends are invited to meet with the family for visitation at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at the First Christian Church of Hessville, 6733 Alabama Avenue, Hammond (Hessville).  The funeral service will immediately follow at 11:00 A.M. with Dan Nichols, Minister, officiating.  Burial will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens in Schererville, Indiana.

Connie was born and raised in the Calumet area.  For over 12 years, she was a featured columnist on the "Spiritual Focus" page of the Northwest Indiana Times.  Connie also regularly wrote a column for the Christian magazine, Restoration Herald. It was the delight of her life to be able to encourage others with stories from her own ministry and the lives of others who inspired her. She taught the high school Sunday school class for over 30 years and her puppet ministry was enjoyed by "little ones" for over 20 years in Children's Church. Connie blessed many lives throughout her life, and she will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
