Connie J. Del Toro, age 84, of Hammond, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, January 19, 2016.
She is survived by five children; Alfred Jaime Del Toro, Eva (Tina Blaeser) Del Toro, David (Nancy) Del Toro, Lisa (Jack) Palivoda, Felix (Marco Beghin) Del Toro; eight grandchildren: Justine, Alicia, Sondra and John Palivoda, Maria and Anthony Del Toro, Jamie and Andrew Johnson; brother: Joe Jimenez, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, dear friends and furry companions Chiquita and Bonita.                                   Preceded in death by her beloved husband of 41 years Alfred I. Del Toro in 1996; parents, Trinidad and Petra Jimenez; sisters Eva and Carmen; brothers: Refugio, Raymond, Rudolph and Hector.          A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. directly at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 7132 Arizona Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) with Father Charles Mosley celebrant. Burial will follow at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville. Friends are invited to meet with the family for a time of visitation on Friday, January 22, 2016 at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Saturday at church from 9:30 a.m. until10:00a.m.                                                                                     Connie was born in Gary, IN on May 21, 1931. She was a loyal parishioner of Our Lady Of Perpetual Help Church where she helped establish an Our Lady of Guadalupe Group that celebrated the feast during the early 90's to 2007. In addition to being a homemaker, Connie worked as a bookkeeper at Gary Screw and Bolt from 1950-1960 and as a sales clerk at Woodmar Carson Pirie Scott form 1988-1993. Connie loved taking the train or bus to Chicago to go shopping, visiting and spending time with family and traveling.
