David A. Miles, age 68, of Hammond passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 15,2014 .

He is survived by his loving wife, Linda J. "Ernie" (nee Nichols), 3 children; Anthony (Jean) Miles, Nikki Miles and Jennifer (Kamal) Kaaoush.

6 grandchildren; Walter Farrish, Greyson Miles, Khristina Via, Robert (Meghan) Via, and Gavin and Jessica James, 1 great grandchild; Makanzi Via,1 brother; John "Jack" (Reba) Miles, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and life long friends.

Preceded in death by his parents; Robert and Beatrice Miles, and sister Patricia Smith.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, June 20, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Bocken Funeral Home 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) with Pastor Jeffrey Hannon officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Lawn Cemetery in Schererville. Friends are invited to meet with the family at Bocken Funeral Home on Thursday June 19,2014 for a time of visitation from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Dave was raised in Cedar Lake but has lived his entire adult life in the Hammond/Hessville area. He proudly served our country in the Army during the Viet Nam War. He was retired from Local 41 as a construction worker after over 45 years of service. Dave was the former owner and operator of Anthony D's Pizza in Hessville. Dave enjoyed watching sports and was a huge fan of the Great Washington Red Skins. He was a kind and loving husband, a devoted father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend.
