Dean B. Hardesty

Dean B. Hardesty, age 68 of Hammond passed away on Sunday October 23, 2011 surrounded by his loving family.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 20 years, Martha A. Hardesty, (nee, Casey);

one daughter, Dawn (Danny) Johnson; step-daughter, Rhonda (Randy) Kimmel; step-son, Randy Perkins;

9 Grandchildren; one brother, Darrel (Beverly) Hardesty;

1 niece, Melissa (Jason) Freeman and 2 nephews;

Michael (Traci) Hardesty and Brian (Ginny) Hardesty.

Preceded in death by his son, David Hardesty and parents, Doran and Henrietta Hardesty.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday October 27, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) with Fr. Charles Niblick, officiating. Burial will follow at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville.

Friends are invited to meet with the family on Thursday, October 27th from 12:00 p.m. Noon until the time of service at 1:30 p.m. at Bocken Funeral Home.

Dean was a life time resident of the Calumet Area. He worked in the 21 inch mill as a loader at Inland Steel until his retirement in 1996. Dean was a proud U.S. Army veteran and was past commander of American Legion Post #232. He was an outdoors man who loved fishing, hunting, woodworking, and was a true football "fanatic" and big fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide, Indianapolis Colt's and Chicago Bears. He always put his family first and was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother who will be deeply missed.
