Delia C. Ramsey, age 79, of Hammond entered into the gates of heaven on Tuesday, February 28, 2012.
She is survived by her son, Ed (Pamela) Ramsey of Highland;
one granddaughter, Melanie Nicole Ramsey;
sister-in-law, Jeanine K. Hipp of Highland;
special nieces, Jill Vandervort, Cheryl Hipp and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Gerald E. Ramsey; son, Gerald E. Ramsey, Jr.; parents, Clarence and Dorothy Hipp; brothers, Clarence and Stanley Hipp.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, March 2, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) with Rev. Scott Ferry officiating. Burial will follow at Hess Cemetery, Hammond. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Thursday, March 1st at Bocken Funeral Home from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
Dee was a longtime resident of the Hessville section of Hammond. She was a faithful member of Cornerstone Baptist Church, ( formerly Orchard Drive Baptist Church),member of Hammond T.O.P.S. and Hammond Lady Lions. Dee was the first female postal carrier in the city of Hammond. She volunteered at the Salvation Army, loved to travel, crochet, read a good book and attend air shows. Dee was a loving mother, a devoted grandmother and dear friend to many.
