Desmian "Desi" I. Santos, age 16, of Hammond entered into the gates of heaven on Wednesday, June 1, 2016, after a courageous battle with cancer.
He is survived by his loving parents, Adrian and Myrna "Melissa" Santos, III; siblings: Andre, age 15, Aaliyah, age 10 and Josiyah age 6; grandparents: Mr. and Mrs. Hernandez, Mr. and Mrs. Berrocal, Feliciano/Santana and Mr. and Mrs. Santos; best friend and service dog, "Dynum"; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Preceeded in death by great grandparents, Sindo, Berrocal Feliciano and Almodovar; several uncles and cousins.

Friends are invited to meet with the family for a time of visitation on Friday, June 10, 2016 at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) IN from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Bocken Funeral Home with Pastor Steve and Chanel Hightower officiating. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery in Hammond.

Desi was a lifetime Hammond resident.  He is an alumni of Scott Middle School and was in the 10th grade at Morton High School. On May 27, 2016, while in the hospital he was presented with his high school diploma. Desi was a dance major in the preforming arts program at Morton High School. He enjoyed music, dance and reading. He has and will always be known for his strength, motivation and strong determination to go above and beyond. Desi loved his family, and to them he was their super hero, "Captain America".
