Dolores R. Holsclaw (Cordell), age 84, of Hammond, passed away peacefully in her home on July 16, 2017 surrounded by her family after a long battle with Alzheimer's.

Dolores is survived by her son: Edward Cordell; and daughter: Sherry Cordell whom cared for her until she was called home; two loving grandsons Edward (Rachael) Cordell and Eric (Julie) Cordell; three great grandchildren: Elaine, Evan and Eleanor Cordell;

several nieces, nephews and a host of dear friends.

Dolores was preceded in death by her son Dennis Cordell; parents, Walt and Leone McCoury; husbands: Lloyd Holsclaw and Edward Cordell.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 21,2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) with Dan Nichols minister, officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Hammond. Friends are invited to meet with the family at Bocken Funeral Home on Thursday, July 20th from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Dolores was born on April 27, 1933 in TN. She was Valedictorian of her high school and had many fond memories of her life in TN that she liked to share. She moved to Hammond in 1950 where she worked for the Post Office for 39 years before retiring. She loved her job and talked about it often. After retirement Dolores took a job at Wal-Mart as a greeter to stay active and put a smile on peoples faces. Dolores was also an active member in T.O.P.S. for almost 40 years, where she met her best friends Nikki and Gerry. Dolores was a loving mother a devoted grandmother and great grandmother who enjoyed being with her family and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
