Donald Albert Banter, age 50, of Hammond, passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2013.
He is survived by his loving mother Sarah I. Banter (Nee York); Four children: Timothy Cunningham, Melissa Banter, Carl Banter and Amanda Banter; three grandchildren: Emma Brown, Aiden Ramirez and Abel Banter; two brothers: Timothy (Brenda) Banter and Michael Banter; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Preceded in death by his father, Donald R. Banter; sister, Donna Sue Spencer; grandparents and great grandparents.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville).
Private cremation will follow.
Friends are invited to meet with the family for a time of visitation on Tuesday, October 1,2013 at Bocken Funeral Home from 1pm until 3:00 p.m.
Don was born on March 28,1963 in East Chicago and was a Hammond resident. He graduated from Morton High School, class of 1981. He was employed at Purdue Calumet as a pizza chef before becoming disabled. Don attended the Salvation Army Church and was active as a Bell Ringer for many years. He spent at least the last three years as Bell Ringer at the Walgreens in Dyer. His favorite pastimes were cooking, fishing and working on his big red truck. Don was an excellent cook, a loving and compassionate son, father, grandfather, brother and friend who will be forever in our hearts.
