Donald "Joe" Eugene Liming, age 81, of Munster passed away peacefully on Monday, September 24, 2012.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Joyce Ann Liming, (nee, Geis);
2 children: Diana (Glenn) Weyand and Randy Liming;
1 granddaughter, Angela Weyand Geron;
2 great grandchildren: Domeneque and Zachary;
2 brothers: Harold (late, Dee) Liming,
Robert (late, Lenore) Liming;
2 sisters: Mildred (late, Paul) Van Gorp,
Helen (late, Harold) Vanscoyk;
sister-in-law, Barbara Liming;
Numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents, John and Ethel Liming; brother, Bud Liming and nephew, Don Liming.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 28, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Life Point Church, formerly Hessville Assembly of God, 7350 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond, with Pastor James Goettel officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Lawn Cemetery in Schererville. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Thursday, September 27th at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. There will be a time of visitation at the church on Friday from 12 (Noon) until the service at 1:00 p.m.
Joe was born and raised in Hammond and was a 1948 graduate of Hammond Tech High School. Joe was a proud U.S. Navy veteran and served during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Union Carbide after 25 years of service and went on to become a cement mason and a member of Local #692. Joe was a longtime faithful member of Life Point Church. He loved gardening, fishing and spending time with his family. Joe was a kind and loving man a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother.
