Doreen Usselman, age 102 of Whiting passed away peacefully at her residence on Friday, February 15, 2013.
She is survived by her loving family of 3 sons:
Robert and Joseph Usselman both of Whiting and Howard Usselman, Jr. of Wisconsin;
4 grandchildren: Tracy (Martin) Martinez, Amy (Robert) Mecklin and Joseph Usselman Jr., Tina Markley;
2 great- granddaughters: Emily Mecklin and Danielle Martinez;
one sister, Katherine (John) Hanlon;
Several nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Howard Usselman Sr.; parents, Frank & Anna (nee, Kitchen) Prohaska; brother, Ernest Prohaska; 2 sisters, Madge Sheline and Martha Kolas.
A special thanks to Doreen's caregivers, Tonia and Tiosha of Moore Home Health Care.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) with Pastor J. Calaway officiating.  Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Hammond.  Friends are invited to meet with the family on Tuesday, February 19th at Bocken Funeral Home from 4:00 pm until 8:00pm.
Doreen has been a lifetime resident of the Calumet Area and a faithful member of The Gate Church in Hammond.
She worked for over 20 years at Lever Brothers as a cook.
Doreen was a loving mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.  She enjoyed being able to cook and bake for her family and friends.
