Edward James Cordell Jr., age 74, of Hammond, passed away peacefully at home with his loved ones on Friday, February 27, 2026.

He is survived by his two sons, Edward (Rachel) Cordell and Eric (Julie) Cordell; three grandchildren, Elaine, Evan, and Eleanor Cordell; sister, Sherry Cordell; former wife, Dixie Geren; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.

Edward was preceded in death by his parents Edward Cordell Sr. and Dolores Holsclaw; and brother, Dennis Lee Cordell.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a time of visitation on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, from 10 a.m. until the service at 12:00 p.m. at Bocken Funeral Home 7042 Kennedy Ave. Hammond, IN 46323. Burial at Elmwood Cemetery to follow.

Edward was a lifelong resident of the Region and a proud graduate of Hammond High School, Class of 1969. He worked for many years at LTV Steel before retiring. In his free time, he enjoyed playing cards, watching movies, and cheering on his Chicago Cubs. He will be remembered for his dedication to his family and the simple joys that brought him happiness.
