Edward A. Marzec, age 88, of Hammond, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 22, 2011.
He is survived by his daughter, Carol Marzec and one son, Ed Marzec both of Hammond;
2 grandchildren: Jason and Michelle Feder;
1 sister-in-law, Agnes Marzec;
several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his beloved wife of 52 years, Martha (nee, Owczarzak) Marzec; parents, Frank and Julia Marzec; brothers: Michael Laciak, Joseph (Alice) Laciak, Frank (Dorothy) Laciak, John (Jessie) Laciak and Walter Marzec; sister, Mary (Anthony) Novak.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, October 27, 2011 with prayers at 9:30 a.m. at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville)followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 6525 Kentucky Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) with Father Larry Kew, officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Calumet City, Il. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Wednesday, October 26th from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Bocken Funeral Home.
Ed was a lifetime resident of the Calumet Area and made his home in the Hessville section of Hammond. He was a faithful member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, were he formerly served as usher. Ed was a proud U.S. Army veteran who served during WWII and a member of American Legion Post #369. He retired from Central Electric Co. where he was the founder and owner. Ed loved the Chicago Cubs, "Go Cubbies".
