Emmitt Felix Gardner, age 96, of Hillsboro, TN, formerly of Hessville passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 6, 2012.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 73 years, Lucille Gardner, nee, Darnell;
1 daughter, Betty (John) Dimitri of Hillsboro, TN;
1 granddaughter, Tracie Dimitri of Hillsboro, TN;
2 grandsons: Emmitt Dimitri of Hammond, IN and
Thomas (Kelly) Dimitri of Huntsville, AL;
2 great grandchildren: Aidan and Katherine Dimitri of Huntsville, AL;
1 sister, Evelyn Parker of AL;
several nieces and nephews;
Preceded in death by his son, Donald Emmitt Gardner; parents, Ernest E. and Birdie Gardner; 2 sisters: Ernestine Brasher and Annemae Brasher; 2 brothers: Lloyd Gardner and Edwin Gardner.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, June 11, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) with Lee Roy Floyd officiating. Burial will at follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Hammond. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Sunday, June 10th from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Bocken Funeral Home.
Felix was a resident of the Hammond, Hessville Area for over 70 years before moving to Tennessee. He was a longtime faithful member of Hessville Baptist Church. Felix retired from Inland Steel in 1978 after working for over 40 years in the tin mill as an operator. Felix enjoyed gardening and working in his yard. His favorite pastime was working on cars and going fishing. Felix was a kind and loving husband, father and grandfather and will be dearly missed.
