Eric William Strege, age 57, of Hammond passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 8, 2012.
He is survived by his 3 brothers: Phillip (Grace) Strege of Las Vegas, NV,
Gregory (Roberta) Strege of Merrillville, IN and
Raymond (Lisa) Strege of South Bend, IN;
Several nieces, nephews, cousins and lifelong friends.
Preceded in death by his parents, Gene Warner and Barbara Carolyn Strege.
A Memorial Service to celebrate the life of Eric Strege will be held on Sunday, April 15, 2012. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Sunday, April 15th from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville). As per Eric's wishes a private cremation was held prior to the service.
Eric was a lifelong resident of the Hessville section of Hammond. He was born on February 15, 1955, was a 1973 graduate of Morton High School and attended Indiana State University. He worked as a millwright for over 35 years at Arcelor-Mittal Steel. Eric enjoyed reading, was a member of the N.R.A., an avid Chicago Cubs fan and Oakland Raiders fan. Eric loved his dogs, Jackson Montgomery, Leo Montgomery and Bianca Montgomery, they were his "babies". He was a devoted brother, uncle, cousin and dear friend to many.
