Frank L. Wojno, age 88 of Hammond passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 9, 2012 surrounded by his loving family.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 65 years, Lillian A. Wojno, (nee, Niezgoda);
Children: Sandi (Larry) Street of Punta Gorda, FL,
Ronald (Gayle) Wojno of Highland,
Jim (Melanie) Wojno of New Lenox, IL and
Susan Tharp of Hammond;
8 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents, Konstanty and Margaret Wojno;
2 great grandchildren, Austin Nuest and Carson Wojno; brother, Joseph (Helen) Wojno and one sister, Helen Wojno.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, February 13, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. directly at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 7132 Arizona Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) with Rev. Charles Mosley celebrant. Burial will follow at St. John-St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Hammond. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Sunday, February 12th from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville). There will be a time of viewing at the church on Monday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the mass at 10:00 a.m.
Frank was born on March 12, 1923 in Chicago and moved to Hammond in 1956. He was a faithful member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. Frank was a barber and former owner of Frank's Barber Shop located on Kennedy Avenue in Hessville. He also worked at Blaw-Knox and retired in 1985 after working 14 years as a millwright. Frank enjoyed fishing and gardening, but his favorite pastime was spending time with his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and a dear friend to many who will be dearly missed. In lieu of flowers memorials in Frank's name may be sent to either
