Fred L. Rainford age 76, of Hammond, went home to heaven on Friday August 7, 2015 after a sudden and brief illness.

He is survived by his Wife of 55 years, Shirley Rainford, 3 children: Kenneth (Marietta) Rainford, Beverly Mahony, Douglas Rainford; 7 grandchildren: Holly Rainford, Amy Mahony, Audrey Rainford, Ken Rainford Jr., Erin Mahony, George Mahony IV, Alex Mahony; brother, Tom Rainford, several nieces, nephews and loyal friends. Preceded in death by his parents, Gaylord and Rosemary Rainford, granddaughter, Lisa Rainford and nephew Dan.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond  (Hessville) with Pastor John Clement officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Hammond.  Friends are invited to meet with the family for a time of visitation on Tuesday, August 11th at Bocken Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Fred was born and raised in Hammond; he attended Hammond Tech High School. Fred was a faithful member of Woodmar Baptist Church. He was retired from St. Catherine Hospital where he was a biomedical electronic technician. Fred enjoyed music and played several instruments, he was brilliant yet humble as an inventor at a young age, he was interested in anything electronic. Fred loved spending time with his family and was always ready for their next adventure, whether it was a ride on his motorcycle or a road trip in their camper. Most importantly he was a believer in Jesus Christ, and he is more alive now than ever. He was a faithful loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother.
