Frederick Lee Standridge, age 81, of Highland, entered into the gates of Heaven on Monday, September 16, 2013.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Celia Grace Standridge, (nee Young);
4 children: Allen (Diana) Standridge,
Cheryl (Jack) Hill,
Anita (Jeff) Lahners and Craig Standridge;
16 grandchildren: Elizabeth, Rachel, Adam, Hannah, Leah, Luke, Isaiah, Samuel, Susanna, Sophia, Matthew, Christina, Kevin, Thomas, Zachary and Kenny;
9 great grandchildren;
1 sister, Jessie Silianoff;
close family friends, Paul and Paula Limato;
many nieces, nephews and a host of dear friends.
Preceded in death his parents, Jessie and Blanche Standridge and one grandson, Daniel.
Funeral Services and Praise Gathering for Believers will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at
Calvary Baptist Church, 2945 New Jersey Street, Lake Station with Rev. Paul Limato and Rev. Mark Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens in Schererville. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Friday, September 20th at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) from 2-4:00 p.m. and 6-8:00 p.m.
Fred was born and raised in Pontiac, MI and has been a resident of the Calumet Area for over 36 years. He began his ministry in the 1960's as the youth pastor at Calvary Baptist Church in Highland. Fred started the Faith Baptist Church in Kokomo, IN and pastored there for 17 years. For the past 11 years he has been the pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Lake Station. Pastor Fred loved the Lord and shared his faith with others whenever he could. He ministered to many people by writing encouraging letters and also through his radio ministry,  "Parson to Person".
Fred enjoyed camping and traveling with his family to visit state parks. He was a wonderful husband and a loving and devoted father and grandfather. Memorials may be made to the family.
