Frieda Marie Rospond, age 90, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 12, 2015 while surrounded by her loving family. Frieda was born in East Chicago, IN on November 24, 1924 to the late Frank and Mary Majkowski. She is survived by her loving children; James (Donna) Rospond, Gerry (Walt) Mathieson, Don (Susan) Rospond and Kathy (Kevin) Robinson; grandchildren: Rachael Rospond, Adam Rospond, Michael (Shoshana) Mathieson, Richard (Pamela) Mathieson, Sarah (Richard) White, Ryan Rospond, David Rospond, Kimberly Robinson and Korrine Robinson; great grandson; Benjamin Mathieson; many nieces, nephews and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her  husband of 35 years, Louis J. Rospond; parents; five sisters, one brother.

Frieda was raised in East Chicago and attended Washington High School. She was employed at various locations including Rand McNally for 20 years as an assistant to the bookbinder until she retired in 1984. Frieda was a long time resident of the Hammond area and a parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. She enjoyed bowling, cooking, dinning out, bingo, pinochle club and her children's hobbies. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend who will be dearly missed.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2015 with  prayers at 9:30 a.m. from Bocken Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 7132 Arizona Ave., Hammond with Father Charles Mosley celebrant. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Calumet City, IL. Friends are invited to meet with the family for a time of visitation at Bocken Funeral Home 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond, (Hessville) on Friday April 17, 2015 from 2:00-8:00 p.m.
