Gail Ann Shelby, 70, of Schererville formerly of Hammond, entered her heavenly home on Monday July 29,2013.
She is survived by three daughters: Patricia Griswold, Sherri (Frankie) Moreno and Terri (Kenneth) Whitten; Two son's Michael D. (Diane) and Donald Eugene (Brenda) Shelby Jr. Eleven grandchildren: Malynda (Crencies) Woods, William (Heather) Widner, Donna (David) Covington, Brittany, Emilee (Kyle) Henderson, Kenneth, Lydia, Amanda, Abbagial, Jack and Michael William;
Eleven great grandchildren: Savannah, William, Mariah, Haiden, Kaylee, Isaiah, Julia, Conner, Leland, Mason, Julian and soon to arrive Isabella;
Three brothes: Wayne (Marie), Warren (Francine) and Bruce (Donna) Humphrey;
One sister, Cheryl (Albert) Guerry and numerous nieces and nephews.
Gail was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 44 years, Donald "Don" Eugene Shelby Sr. in 2007; parents, Ernest and Rita Humphrey.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at 10: a.m. at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) with Dr. Robert Auclair officiating. Entombment will follow at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrilliville. Friends are invited to meet with the family at Bocken Funeral Home on Friday, August 1, 2013 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Gail has been a resident of the Calumet Area for over 50 years. Gail was a registered nurse for over 25 years, she worked for St. Margaret Hospital in Dyer. Gail was a former member of First Baptist Church of Hammond for many years where she taught in the Jr. 1 Dept. with her husband Don. Gail enjoyed collecting dolls, researching ancestry, crafting and she was very good at the "2 step". Gail's family would like to express their sincere appreciation and gratitude to the staff at Peace Hospice; for the wonderful care they gave to their mother. Gail was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and a dear friend to many who will be dearly missed.
