Obituary

Gary Gene Deeter, age 68, of Hammond passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 27, 2010 at Regency Hospital in East Chicago . The youngest of 7 siblings, he was born April 10, 1942 in rural Clay City , IN, the son of the late Harley and Catherine Elizabeth (Beatty) Deeter.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law:

Trisha (nee, Deeter) and Kristopher Stasukaitis

Grandson: Ethan Joseph Stasukaitis of Chicago , IL

Loving companion: Barbara Johnson of Hammond , IN and many other family members and friends.

Preceded in death by 5 brothers; Thomas, Charles, George, Robert, Donald and one sister; Ruth Anderson.

A brief memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 2, 2010 at 3 p.m. at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue , (Hessville) Hammond with Deacon Michael Halas and American Legion Post #232 officiating.

Friends are invited to meet with the family on Saturday, Oct. 2 nd from 2 until 4 p.m. Burial of crematins at Maple Grove Cemetery in Clay City , IN will be at a later date.

Gary was a longtime resident of the Hessville section of Hammond . He was a U.S. Army Airforce veteran and served his country during the Cuban Missal Crisis. Gary was a member of Hessville Community Service Post #232. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
