George Norman Bewley, Sr., age 95 of Hammond, passed away on Tuesday, March 13, 2012.
He is survived by sons, George (Linda) Bewley, Jr. of Ft. Wayne, IN and Tom (Nancy) Bewley of Houston, TX;
daughter, Donna Bewley of Hammond;
3 grandchildren: Jodi, Kevin and Laura;
2 great grandchildren, Eva and Owen;
brother, Larry (Charlene) Bewley of Ft. Wayne, IN;
sister, Dorothy Shields of Highland and  several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Beatrice Mann Bewley; 2 daughters, Salli and Wendy; parents, Roscoe and Sallie Bewley; brother, Ed and sisters, Gini and Martha
George was born on February 22, 1917 in Whiting, IN. He graduated from George Rogers Clark High School in Robertsdale, with the school's first graduating class in 1935. George was a member of the Steelworkers Union Local #1010 and retired from L.T.V. Steel in 1978 with 29 years of service.  During his many years of retirement George thoroughly enjoyed his daily visits to the "Wheel" to talk and joke with many of his dear friends.
Funeral services were conducted at Bocken Funeral Home and George was laid to rest next to his beloved wife, Beatrice at Heckman Cemetery in Hesston, IN.
