George Albert Kender, age 52, of Calumet Township, formerly of Hessville passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at his residence.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 12 years, Dawn Kender, (nee, Delong);
one son, Mike Kender of Bedford, IN, and his mother, Judy Kender;
2 grandchildren, Jackson Bradley and Logan McKay Kender of Bedford, IN;
mother, Phyllis (Dick) Scott of South Haven, IN;
brother, Richard "Mack" (Debbie) Kender of Knox, IN;
4 sisters: Debbie (Troy) Nolan of Valparaiso,
Connie (Dan) Yeomans of Portage,
Kathy (Dave) Alvarado of Portage and Cheryl White of South Haven, IN; many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his father, Richard Kender.
A Memorial Service to celebrate the life of George Kender will be held on Friday, March 23, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville). Friends are invited to meet with the family on Friday, March 23rd from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
George was born and raised in Hammond and was a 1977 graduate of Morton High School. He was a member of Local #1076 and worked as a millwright in construction. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Hammond. He enjoyed hunting for turkey and deer, fishing and frog gigging. George loved spending time with his family and many friends. In lieu of flowers memorials to St. Anthony Hospice, 203 Franciscan Dr., Crown Point, IN 46307 would be appreciated.
