Gladys Lucille Willison was called home to be with the Lord at age 87 on Wednesday, February 25, 2015.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 66 years, Arthur L. Willison; two children: Betsy (Ken) DeVries and Ken (Deb) Willison; four grandchildren: James (Chrissy) Desler, Joan (Jared) Tyler, Krysta (Kevin) Beedon and Kaitlyn Willison; eight great grandchildren: Lily, Violet, Ivy Desler, Zoe, Julian, Jacob Tyler and Matthew and Bryanna Willison-Beedon; one unofficially adopted daughter: Irene (Charlie) Fassom; one sister: Charlotte (late Joe) Conn; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of dear friends.
Preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Ava Wilson, sister Beverly Kelly and brother Robert Wilson.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. directly at First Christian Church of Hessville, 6733 Alabama Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) with Dan Nichols, minister officiating. Friends are invited to meet with the family for a time of visitation at the church on Saturday morning from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
Private burial at Chapel Lawn Cemetery, Schererville.
Gladys was born on February 17, 1928 in Marshall, IL and lived in Hammond since1946.
She has been a long time faithful member of the First Christian Church of Hessville where she once served as a children's Sunday School Teacher and was active in the Ladies Fellowship. Gladys volunteered her time at the Chicagoland Christian Village and served yearly at the Mountain Mission School in Grundy, VA. She was very family oriented and enjoyed reading, loved people, was an excellent cook and a master homemaker. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend.
