Guadalupe Rodriguez, age 72, of Hammond went home to meet his Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 21, 2017.
He leaves behind to mourn his loss, his wife of 51 years, Catalina M. Rodriguez (nee Martinez); four children: Dianira, Daniel G., Laura and Guadalupe "Lupe" (Jennifer Havens-Rodriguez) Jr. Rodriguez; five grandchildren: Francisco J. Perez, Andrew H. Perez, Emmy N., Forrest D. and Elena C. Rodriguez; one great grandchild, Jace A. Perez; ten siblings: Rodrigo, Carlos, Rodolfo, Cleofas, Ruben and Luz Maria Rodriguez, Rosalba Cardenas, Rebecca, Gloria and Margarita Rodriguez; numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends including his close friend and caregiver Jose Barahona and beloved pets, dog, Tucker and cat, Kattay.
Preceded in death by his parents, Hermilo and Josefina Rodriguez; brother, Jose Manuel Rodriguez.
Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 27, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. DIRECTLY at Life Point Church (formerly, Hessville Assembly of God), 7350 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond with Pastor Orlando Solar officiating. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery, Hammond.
Friends are invited to meet with the family for visitation on Thursday, October 26, 2017 at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. There will be viewing at the church on Friday morning from 9:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.
Lupe was a resident of the Hessville area of Hammond for the past 43 years where he attended Life Point Church. He was a member of local 1010 and had retired from Inland Steel after 33 years as a welder and past safety committeeman. Lupe loved tending to his ranch in Mexico and was an avid accordion player. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend who will be dearly missed. The family wishes to especially thank the staff of Hospice of the Calumet Area for their loving care and compassion.
