Gwendolyn "Gwen" C. Pudell, age 93, of Munster, formerly of Highland, entered into the gates of heaven on Sunday, April 1, 2012 .
She is survived by one daughter, Kathy (Jim) Matthews of Munster;
2 granddaughters: Meghan (Jim) Reef of Bloomington, IN and Morgan (Stephen) Sleeper of LaPorte, IN;
3 great grandchildren: Aidan and Seelie Mae Reef and Zoe Sleeper;
Step-sister, Betty (Jim) Sauconas;
Step-brother, Bill (Margaret) Pryor and several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, Leonard G. Pudell and her parents, William and Catherine Pryor.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday April 4, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. directly at First United Lutheran Church, 6705 Hohman Avenue, Hammond, IN with Rev. Bassam Abdallah officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens in Schererville. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Tuesday, April 3rd at Bocken Funeral Home 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville), IN from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. There will be a time of viewing at the church Wednesday morning from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m.
Gwen was born on September 26, 1918 in Chicago and moved to the Calumet Area over 70 years ago. She has been a devoted and faithful member of First United Lutheran Church for over 60 years. She was a lifetime member of T.O.P.S. of the Highland Chapter. Gwen will be remembered for her faithfulness and devotion to her Lord, her church and her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother whose family was her number one priority, she will be dearly missed. Memorials in Gwen's name may be made in favor of First United Lutheran Foundation, 6705 Hohman Ave., Hammond, IN 46320 or Hospice of the Calumet, 601 Superior, Munster, IN 46321.
