H. Doreen Lax, age 84, of Hammond entered into the Gates of Heaven on Sunday, November 24, 2013.
She leaves to mourn her passing 5 children and their families:
Karen (Steve) Rakauskas,
Nancy (Glenn) Glasmire,
Rebecca (John) Craig,
Bonnie (Henry) Salinas and
David B. (Jose Martinez) Lax;
12 Grandchildren; Ronald (Chris) Ciesla, Philip (Tera) Knieriemen, David (Cecily) Ciesla, Angela (Kevin) Demantes, Johnny (Claudia) Craig, Elijah (Patty) Salinas, Benjamin (Gina) Craig, Joseph (fiancée Rose) Salinas, Sara (Brian) Stasiak, Roseann (Andy) Bozak, Carrie Callahan and Rachel (Bill) Bailey.
22 great grandchildren;
1 sister, Arlene Vanes;
1 brother, Alan Bannister;
In laws Jack, Donna and Joanie Lax.
Numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph David Lax;
parents, Corinth and Helen Bannister;
2 sisters: Corrine (Laverne) Fernando and Kathleen Koch; Son in law Ronald Ciesla and her aunt, Julia Deffenbaugh.

Funeral Service to celebrate her Home Going will be held on Friday, November 29, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. directly at
South Side Christian Church, 1000 Broadmoor, Munster with Randy Harrison, Minister officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens in Schererville.
Friends are invited to meet with the family on Wednesday, November 27th from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville). There will also be a time of viewing on Friday morning at South Side Christian Church from 9.30am until10.30am.
Doreen was a lifetime resident of the Calumet Area and was a graduate of  East Chicago Washington High School, class of 1948. She worked for over 10 years as a Lab Assistant at the Hammond Clinic and was a volunteer at Community Hospital in Munster.
Doreen was a faithful member of her church and had an exceptionally beautiful singing voice. During her lifetime she used her talent for God singing in church.
